Celebrate Earth Day: Show Love for Our Planet 🌎

Earth Day 🌎 is a special day when people all over the world come together to think about our planet, Earth. We celebrate Earth Day to remind ourselves how important it is to take care of our home. It’s like a birthday for the Earth! We do activities like planting trees, cleaning up trash, and learning about how we can help keep our planet healthy. So, Earth Day is a day for showing love and promising to care for our planet.

How Did Earth Day Begin?

Earth Day began on April 22, 1970. On their own, John McConnell and Senator Gaylord Nelson of the United States wanted to bring attention to the importance of protecting our environment. People were dealing with issues like toxic drinking water, air pollution, and the effects of pesticides. About 20 million Americans—10% of the population— protested together outdoors. This event sparked the first Earth Day, which led to the creation of the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) in the United States.

♻️ Earth Day inspired people and communities around the world to come together and take action to protect our planet.

10 Simple Ways for Primary Children to ♻️ Help Our Earth:

1 ✅ Pick up Trash: Take a walk around your neighborhood or school and pick up any litter you see. Remember to wear gloves and ask an adult to help.

2 ✅ Turn Off Lights: Remind your family to turn off lights when leaving a room to save electricity.

3 ✅ Plant Flowers: Help plant flowers in a garden or a pot. Flowers attract bees and butterflies, which are important for pollinating plants. (Idea: Grow a bean plant in a planting cup… from the seed.)

4 ✅ Use Less Paper: Draw or write on both sides of a piece of paper to save trees. You can also reuse scrap paper for drawing or making crafts.

5 ✅ Recycle: Sort out recyclable items like paper, plastic bottles, and cans, and put them in the recycling bin.

6 ✅ Save Water: Turn off the faucet while brushing your teeth and take shorter showers to save water.

7 ✅ Feed the Birds: Hang a bird feeder outside with birdseed to help our feathered friends find food.

8 ✅Take Care of Plants: Water plants regularly and remove weeds to help them grow strong and healthy.

donating toys

9 ✅ Share with Others: Donate toys, clothes, or books you no longer use to someone who needs them. Sharing helps reduce waste and makes others happy.

10 ✅ Make a Compost Bin: Collect fruit and vegetable scraps to make compost. Compost helps plants grow and reduces waste.

These are just a few ideas to get started. Earth Day is all about showing love and care for our planet, so any effort, big or small, makes a difference!
